Biking the Rail Trails on Cape Cod
Shining Sea Bikeway – Offers 10.7 miles of paved off road trails from North Falmouth to Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute. The bikeway avoids much of Falmouth summer traffic, and takes riders by Cranberry Bogs, harbors, salt water marshes and the Salt Pond Bird Sanctuary and beaches. The Cape Cod Rail Trail (22 mile off road paved) is a beautiful ride through 5 lower and mid-Cape towns. This trail follows the old Cape Cod Railroad route going back to the 1800’s. From the Rt. 134 trail head in Dennis to LeCount Hollow Road in South Wellfleet, past lakes and picnic areas, including Nickerson State Part, this trail is monitored by bike patrol for everyone’s safely and fun. A truly unique way to enjoy the Cape Cod experience (14.2 miles paved off road along both sides of the Cape Cod Canal, and 7 ½ miles between the Bourne and Sagamore Bridges.
